Hello, and welcome to my first journal entry. As I’m not particularly verbose, I hesitate to call this a blog. It’s more of a place where I’ll occasionally document my life experiences.
While this is a portfolio site, our occupations don’t define who we are as humans, so the last thing I’ll be doing here is commenting on graphic design trends. Anyone who knows me personally can tell you I’m not much of a trend follower anyway. You can usually find me in a plain t-shirt and a pair of 501’s (or boardshorts). Therefore my journal will be of a more personal nature.
So many creatives share their knowledge on line. There’s very little you can’t learn with a Google search. I, like many, have had the luxury of learning through others’ experimentation. One thing I’d like to do here is give a little back myself. I plan to provide tutorials on techniques I’ve learned both through trial and error, and with the help of others. I’ll keep it simple. The initial idea is to teach a useful trick in two or three minutes. Looks good on paper, but the practicality remains to be seen!
Welcome to the Mental Ward. I hope you’ll join me on this journey and see where the road leads.

Looking forward ed! You are great at relaying your words to writing!
Thanks Lis. Hey to KK.
Nice start Ed. Hope to read more and learn a little. 🙂
Thanks, Bob. Fire up Photoshop and get ready to put your friends in photographically compromising positions. 😉
Yeah Ed! Someday I hope to join you in the blogging world. But see you do follow trends, but not really quickly, you let them age a little like fine wine. Can’t wait to see where you go with it. Good luck!
Thanks! I guess I’ll have to console myself in the fact that I don’t set trends. 🙂
Best wishes on your new venture! Always enjoy your posts, especially if it has to do with animals. And your wife. I look forward to learning something new. Blog on!
Thanks Lisa. Animals and my wife?
Donkeys in Cabo, seals on your board. And your beautiful wife with stories of your life. You guys are great together.
Ah, what a great memory you have, Lisa.
Congratulations Ed. Rock on.
Thanks old friend. Really happy to see the new theatrical digs you’ve created!
Looking forward to seeing where this goes 😉
Who knows, Morgana? That’s the fun part. 🙂
You’ve got my attention……..So where do we go from here?
Surfing? Certainly nowhere political or religious on these pages. Light & bright, Baby. 🙂
Looks like a cool and funny journey. Can’t wait to see where it leads next.

You’ll know as soon as I do!
Looking forward to the Journey!
I look forward to learning something new in 2 to 3 minutes..it just happens that is about the length of my attention span. LOL
Too funny Shay, but that’s exactly where I’m coming from. There are far too many 10-20 minute+ tutorials that suck you in for half the duration before you realize they’re worthless. I just want to keep it simple. 🙂
Looks interesting Ed; especially since I have NO clue what you’re talking about!
PS you need to fix your clock…
Thanks for the bug report, Suba. Much appreciated. Didn’t notice that.
I left you a voice mail to notify you of a typo in your Lifestyle heading. (Sorry, it’s the English professor in me.)
Your work is singularly impressive. I especially like the flaming fish; it works upside down as well as (maybe better than) right side up.
Jack, no apologies necessary. I welcome constructive criticism, and wish to fix any typos immediately. Having said that…voice mail on this site? That’s a function I’m unaware of. Sometimes I really impress myself.
I clicked on your phone number, listed under Contact, and it rang your phone (imagine that).
Which reminds me I need to update my outgoing message. Thanks!
Listen to Susan Ward about your clock. (Scared this old fart when I saw how much past my bedtime I was still on line. )
From your cover photo it looks like the sky is the limit for Mental Ward! Best of luck with it. I look forWard to seeing more of your non blog.
Thanks, Rich. I fear I may have painted myself into a corner trying to come up with something interesting to say or do on a regular basis. 🙂
It’s too early and I can’t think of anything to say
I’ll check back with you later.
Looking forward to this, Ed. Rock on.
Uh oh, what have I gotten in to?
Please DO take me on a journey, Ed!
We’ll see what happens, Dave!
I’m here for the ride through the mental ward. Looking forward to it!
Head out on the highway, looking for an adventure…Yes, born to be wild. I like it! All the best! I can’t wait to take my meds and go on a trip….OM Shanti
